We are excited to share a recap HERE of what has happened over the course of this past school year. This was our defining year as a community group.
Highlights:
1. We had at least five students who were seven or older who needed extra support in reading and writing. By the end of this school year, they have gained confidence in reading in front of others, and their handwriting and spelling have improved tremendously.
2. We have a few students in the community group who are on the autism spectrum. Initially, one of them kept to themselves and didn't interact much with staff or other students when they joined in 2021. They rarely made eye contact or expressed their needs verbally unless prompted. However, now they engage with everyone, demonstrating proper etiquette by saying "excuse me," "thank you," and even greeting "good morning Mrs. Jenae" with a smile unprompted. Throughout the year, this student has diligently established a daily routine that fosters learning opportunities and enjoyment. Each morning at 11 am, we crafted signs from scrap paper to support local businesses, reflecting his interests. In appreciation, we created THIS to express our gratitude! (Permission granted by the student's parent.)
3. Our 3-6 years olds were busy learning letter sounds and growing knowledge in science. The relationships built over this year were captivating to watch because they were inspired to keep learning.
In light of this growth, we are seeking partners who are ready to contribute $25 per month for the upcoming school year, totaling $300 annually. With over half of our students expected to return next year, parents and other relatives have praised our staff for the progress of their children, not only academically but also in their overall development.
We aim to empower our students as they return to CMS or transition to public school, filled with confidence and enthusiasm for further learning. Our target is to make a positive impact on a minimum of 28 children in the upcoming year. If you are aware of someone who could contribute, please share THIS LINK to guide them to the donation page.
Again, thank you!
